Lake Arthur Jr. High Lady Lakers excel at Dance Camp
The Lake Arthur Jr. High School Lady Lakers recently attended summer Dance Camp in Lake Arthur at the LA Showstoppers Dance and Cheer Company LLC with the National Dance Association (NDA).
The team received Excellent rating for their Home Routine and the Team Dance categories. Two members of the group, Natalie Oliver and Victoria Verret, received All-American Nominee Ribbons.
Oliver went on to claim a spot on the prestigious All-American Team.
Both Oliver and Verret are eligible to perform in the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Houston later this year.
AREA STUDENTS ON MCNEESE STATE UNIVERSITY'S PRESIDENT'S LIST
The President’s Honor List for the spring 2009 semester at McNeese State University has been announced, and many former local high school students are included on it.
To be on the President’s Honor List, a student must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average or better while carrying at least 15 semester hours.
A senior eligible for graduation but carrying less than 15 hours is also considered provided that student was on the President’s Honor List the previous semester.

Unless you’ve been in a coma the last few weeks, most of you know that it’s been hot as all heck outside lately. And for those of us that are used to the scorching South Louisiana heat and humidity, we know what we’re talking about when we say “hot.”

Editor’s note: This is the second in a series of articles about faith in today’s world, where it exists, where it doesn’t, and the differing opinions existing in society between believers and non-believers that are now causing debate, argument, and open confrontation. This second article identifies people who are proud to call themselves atheists and quote them about their beliefs.
It’s been said that “it takes all kinds of people to make up a world.” In terms of religion, or lack thereof, this old axiom remains steadfastly true.
