Joe Burge dies following home workout
Services set Monday for radio-TV personality
BASILE -- Services for radio and TV personality Joe Burge ( Dr. Feel Good) will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Basile.
Burge, 54, died of a heart attack after a weightlifting workout at his home on Saturday.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Sunday at at Ardoin's, Basile, and continues at 8 a.m. Monday.
Burge was co-host, with Todd Ortego, of Swamp & Roll radio and television shows, which were unscripted broadcasts highlighting Acadiana events and musicians.
The TV show is aired on cable systems throughout the area and the radio show airs on KBON on Thursdays at 6 p.m.
The pair started the show more than 20 years ago, with Burge signing off each with "Behave your damn self."
Burge also wrote a weekly column for the Basile Weekly and was a slot technician at the Kinder Coushatta Casino.
