Joseph "Joe" Elgie Vincent

Lake Arthur: A mass of Christian burial for Joseph "Joe" Elgie Vincent, 81, will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur, La. on Friday, March 12, 2010 @ 1:00 PM with Father Clyde Thomas officiating. Mr. Vincent was called to his Heavenly Father Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at his home while surrounded by his beloved family.

Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, March 11th from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will resume on Friday, March 12th at 8:00 AM until the time of his services. A cursillo rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 6:10 PM.

Mr. Vincent will be laid to rest in Shell Beach Cemetery where he will be honored with full military rites.

Joseph "Joe" Elgie was born in Cameron Parish to the late Sosthene & Alidecia Benoit Vincent in February of 1929. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his service in the military, Mr. Vincent was employed by Mobil Oil Company where he worked as a lease operator until his retirement. He was also a member of the American Legion and the American Quarter Horse Association. He was also a cursilloiest. Mr. Vincent enjoyed hunting, ranching, and raising quarter horses.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Adule Hebert Vincent of Lake Arthur; three sons, Glenn Vincent of Houston, TX, Gary (Darla Miller) Vincent of Lake Arthur, & Kevin Vincent also of Lake Arthur; three brothers, Wilsey Vincent of Scott, Steven Vincent of Lafayette, & James ìJBî Vincent of Crosby, TX; three sisters, Rose Crochet of Klondike, his twin, Eldie Sonnier of Lake Arthur, & Rita Mason of Georgetown, TX; and his two beautiful grandchildren, Sarah Miller Aymond of Houma & Rachel Vincent of Lake Arthur.

Mr. Vincent is preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Hazel V. LeMaire.
