LAKE ARTHUR 2010 MARDI GRAS PARADE AND RUN WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!

Thousands show up to the lake city to "pass a good time"

A happy youngster holds a chicken he caught at the 2010 Lake Arthur Mardi Gras Parade and Run Contest held this past Saturday in Lake Arthur.

The large crowd that attended Lake Arthur’s 11th annual Mardi Gras Run and Parade held Saturday February 6th, 2010 did not leave for home disappointed. At least 32 floats, 93 horses and riders, 43 ATV’s and three wagons all combined to make this year’s celebration a special affair, with over 750 people riding on floats.

The winner of the Best Decorated Large Float Contest went to “Krewe De Foo” of Jennings, Best Decorated Bumper Pulled Float was “Le Mardi Gras de Bayou” from Houston, Texas, while the Best Horse and Rider went to Lacey Vincent of Lake Arthur. The Best Decorated ATV was “Krewe D Pad-Nahs” of Jennings.

After the run and parade, a large crowd attended the children’s chicken throw in the Lake Arthur City Park.

Winners of the 5-6 year-old age group was C.J. Myers of Jennings. The 7-8 age group winner was Elthan Dillon of Lake Arthur, the 9-10 age group winner was Jack Hebert of Welsh, while the Adult Age Group went to Brad Myers of Roanoke.

All in all, the 2010 Mardi Gras proved to be a huge success!
