Out-of-state surprises bolster LSU recruiting class

Tigers sign 27 players to football scholarships

The surprise signing of two highly rated defensive players and a wide receiver from Florida led LSU football signings on Wednesday.

The school landed J.R. Ferguson, J.C. Copeland and Kadron Boone, players previously not committed to the Purple and Gold.

Ferguson is a 272-pound lineman from Frederick, Md. Copeland is a 290-pound tackle from LaGrange, Ga. Boone, of Ocala, Fla, is a fleet receiver.

The recruiting class totaled 27 as of mid-afternoon.
