PUBLIC NOTICES

REGULAR MEETING
FEBRUARY 3, 2010 6:00 PM

The Mayor and Board of Council Members of the Town of Lake Arthur met this day in regular meeting. Notice of the meeting was duly exercised as per requirements of open meeting laws.

Mayor Giles called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Council Member Dorothy Charles offered the invocation. Mayor E. R. Giles led the pledge of Allegiance.

Town Clerk Cynthia Mallett called roll and the following were present: Mayor E. R. Giles, Council Members: David Hanks, Dorothy Charles, Kirk Conner and Ellsworth Duhon; also attending was Town Clerk Cynthia Mallett, Town Attorney Bennett LaPoint, and a representative of the Lake Charles American Press. Absent was Council Member Cindy LaPoint.

Ms. Kay Moore and a group of students representing Morgan Smith Technical College came before the Mayor and Town Council to talk about the campaign of bringing awareness to the community for career and technical education through Louisiana Technical College. Mayor Giles and the Town Council thanked them for coming and commended them on their achievements.

It was motioned by David Hanks, seconded by Dorothy Charles to adopt the agenda. The motion carried unanimously.

It was motioned by Dorothy Charles, seconded by David Hanks to approve minutes of special meeting held January 25, 2010. The motion carried unanimously.

It was motioned by Dorothy Charles, seconded by Ellsworth Duhon to approve paying the bills. The motion carried unanimously.

It was motioned by David Hanks, seconded by Ellsworth Duhon to accept the Jefferson Davis Parish Coroner’s fee schedule for services done by CPCO, Dr. Terry Welke M.D. for calendar year 2010 as reported by Dr. Deese, D.C.

Council Members Request: Council Member Ellsworth Duhon announced that the Mardi Gras Run and Parade is coming up Saturday. He gave details of the plans for the event. Mr. Duhon reported that the Mardi Gras Ball that was held last Saturday for the benefit of the Cancer Society was a success. He said that they had a great band and a good turn out.

Mayor Giles reported that the Heliport was under construction and that the new park pier and the new park pavilion was 99% complete.

It was motioned by David Hanks, seconded by Ellsworth Duhon to adjourn meeting. The motion was carried unanimously. The meeting was adjourned.
