People of Lake Arthur and surrounding communities! Find your favorite costume, your fanciest “throws” and get your party face on because the annual Lake Arthur Mardi Gras Parade and Run is right around the corner and rolling your way!

Yes, the whole fantastic celebration is set for Saturday, February 6th, 2010 in and around the Town of Lake Arthur.

The Lake Arthur Mardi Gras Parade and Run is a wholesome, family-oriented affair geared to area children to participate in and enjoy.

That doesn’t mean that adults won’t have a whole lot of fun “passing a great time” and enjoying tasty Cajun food, drink, music and other forms of entertainment. It just means that the unfortunate vulgarities that frequent some of the larger cities will not be tolerated in Lake Arthur.

The annual Mardi Gras Run begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Lake Arthur Park, and riders will canvas the community in search of tasty items that can be cooked for a hot Mardi Gras feast. Horses, wagons and floats are permitted with no fee assessed.

Bring your own lunch or buy one for just $5.00. No glass containers are allowed.

At 2:00 p.m., the 2010 Lake Arthur Mardi Gras Parade will run on Arthur Street and Arthur Avenue, as hundreds of riders on scores of floats will roll down the parade route. The lineup for the parade will start on 7th Street at 1:30 p.m.

There will be a Mardi Gras Chicken Throw after the parade for children aged 5-12 in the Lake Arthur Park. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.

For more information, call Thomas Deshotel at 337-764-1148; Ann LeBouef at 337-658-7468; or the Lake Arthur City Hall at 337-774-2211.

The whole affair promises to be a whole lot of fun once again this year, so come on out and enjoy the festivities!
